WITH profits going to support the work of Carlisle MENCAP, Lockstock's 2011 calendar featuring four models with learning difficulties is the talk of the town.

An official launch at the salon by Carlisle Mayor Mary Styth on September 25th attracted 150 guests including city MP John Stevenson and Carlisle MENCAP Chief Executive Sheila Gregory.
Mrs Styth told guests: "What an astonishing calendar, it breaks new ground and urges us to remember that all of us are just people who like to look our best, whether we have recognised learning difficulties or not."

She heaped praise on Lockstock owner Lynda Kyle for putting models with learning difficulties at the heart of her marketing. "I think she has done something truly wonderful here and I am buying the first ten calendars tonight and urge everyone to put their hands in their pockets."

Sheila Gregory added: "It has given Carlisle MENCAP a huge boost, raised morale and made four of our models extremely happy."

Lynda Kyle, who began the salon's association with Carlisle MENCAP by using a model with autism on her billboard, was delighted with the end product.

"So many people have worked so hard on this calendar, photographer Johnny Becker, make-up artist Sarah Becker, my stylists and digital artist Louise Kneath. They have given up a lot of their spare time and put their hearts into something very special. I am very proud of the calendar and I hope it really does turn heads."

Three of the four Carlisle MENCAP models, Jamie, Jennifer and Amber attended the launch night and were presented with their own canvas portraits.

A raffle raised more than £200 for Carlisle MENCAP on the evening.
